Pet travel after Brexit

The rules for taking your pet to any EU country will change if the UK leaves the EU in March 2019 with 'no deal'.

If you are planning to take your pet abroad or return home from abroad from the 29th March 2019 a blood sample may be required to prove your pet’s immunity to rabies. This is all dependent on the Brexit deal achieved, but to ensure you will still be able to travel with your pet the blood sample needs to be taken at least 3 months before travel and at least 1 month after a rabies vaccine, a maximum of 4 months in total.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you are planning to travel in or out of the UK from the end of March – September.

There are other additional requirements (including a Health Certificate and Declaration) which we will discuss with you. If you have questions, please contact the surgery on 01434 608999.
